SOUTH AFRICA
It’s easy to safari in South Africa, but getting off the beaten track can be tricky. A stone’s throw from Zimbabwe and Mozambique, on the northern tip of the Kruger National Park, lies a rarely visited piece of land known by only a few, with masses of game and a noticeable lack of tourists. In this wild country, you’ll find the pinnacle of walking safaris, so remote, the only accommodation consists of simple tents: a truly unique safari experience.
Then, head south into the eastern provinces and you’ll discover dramatic mountains perfect for rugged mountain biking and hiking, which overlook the historic battlefields of KwaZulu Natal. Relive the film Zulu in the exact spot where it was filmed, and walk the hills which the tribes famously charged over in the heat of the Anglo-Zulu war. You can still see white stones marking graves where men died fighting for their country.
Even further south, see the point where the Atlantic and Indian Oceans collide and sip sundowners on the last piece of land before Antarctica. The beaches, culture and nightlife of Cape Town provides the perfect start, or end, to any South African adventure.
