MALAWI
It’s easy to confuse Lake Malawi for a sea, after all, you can’t see the other side. But head under the surface with an oxygen tank and you’ll discover the appeal of freshwater scuba diving: none of that salty lip feeling. Littered with incredibly bright fish such as striped mbuna and curious chichlids, diving here is an absolute delight.
Back on dry land, you’ll be surprised how lush Malawi is, with the Great Rift Valley dramatically slicing it in half. Blooming with orchids attracting hundreds of bird species from pelican to fish eagle, the landscape is literally alive: perfect for safe, scenic hiking.
And while you’re in what is known as the ‘warm heart of Africa’ (and we can see why), kayaking or sailing around the world’s third largest lake and biking through the National Park are a must. You’ll certainly earn your cosy night’s sleep in a charming tented camp on a small island in the middle of the lake. Bliss.

Experience a sailing safari on the beautiful Lake Malawi, the world's 3rd largest freshwater lake.
