MOUNT WHITNEY CLIMB
Mount Whitney stands at 14,505ft and is the highest mountain in the USA (exc. Alaska - if you want the highest mountain in the whole of the US its Mount Mckinley). This trip gives you the chance to ascend the summit over 5 days and gives outstanding views over the landscapes of the Sequoia National Park and Cottonwood Pass with high alpine lakes, lush meadows, and multiple 14,000ft peaks.
This trip begins in Lone Pine and the Comfort Inn there, from here you travel to the staging area by car and then head off into the wilderness. The first days trek takes you over the 12,126ft Cottonwood pass and then down to your camp at Rock Creek, a mere 9,000ft! The next day sees you camp at Guitar lake at 11,500ft and from here you make your ascent of the summit. From the peak you can fully appreciate the unending American landscape with its vast forests and numerous lakes. Your descent will take another 2 days, arriving back in Lone Pine on day 6.
