ACROSS THE ANDES
This is a proper journey! Travel between two countries, across a mountain range, from the wide open plains of Argentine Patagonia to the mountains, volcanoes and forests of the Chilean lake district. This is a wild and spectacular ride through beautiful scenery made all the more exciting for being on a horse.
After two nights at your base you set out on your journey. Days are spent travelling through the landscape, fording rivers, riding over ridges and through gorges, water meadows and forests. Your nights will be spent camping by rivers and streams in the wilderness with the strange southern stars overhead.
Travel as they did in days gone by, exploring the landscape by horse and setting up camp at night wherever looks good. This is the kind of trip that really puts you in contact with the wild and gets you far away from modern living with all its stresses! Forget about email, you'll be more concerned with picking out the comfiest spot for your tent or who wins in the race over the water meadows.
This is a challenging trip, you will be in the saddle for at least 6 hours a day with considerable cantering. You must therefore be a fit and competent rider, comfortable at all paces and with a sure seat.
