KAYAK THE QUIRIMBAS
The Quirimbas are a string of tropical islands located in Northern Mozambique. This is a remote location, almost forgotten by the outside world. Exploring this beautiful coastline by kayak gives you a unique view of the land and seascape. Kayaking really offers an immersive experience in your surroundings, by being so close to the water you are in a better position to see whats going on and to really be part of your surroundings.
Arrive in the Quirimbas ready to set off on your adventure, you will start your journey into the islands around the coastline by Dhow. This trip is a combination of Dhow sailing and sea kayaking - the Dhow serves to move you over distances that might be a bit tiring if you paddled them! This allows you to explore a greater area than by kayak alone and its also a great and unique way to travel.
Once in your kayak you will be exploring estuaries, islands and beaches, keeping an eye out for the local wildlife and generally enjoying paddling through warm, crystal clear waters. Your nights are spent in comfortable mobile camps pitched on whichever island looks best, allowing you to fall asleep to the sound of the Indian Ocean lapping against the shore.
This is a fully guided trip so your guides will make sure you get the most out of it. On this trip you may have the opportunity to see sea turtles, various species of dolphin, and even humpback whales! There is also bird life aplenty and hundreds of other species that make this such a special ecosystem.
Apart from wildlife spotting you can go fishing and cook your catch over an open fire, swim, snorkel, or just relax with a sundowner on the deck of the dhow.
