NORWEGIAN SHORT BREAK
Norway has to be one of the best countries for experiencing the great outdoors. For Norwegians getting out into the wilderness is a vital part of life, hunting, fishing, and especially skiing are all essential activities. Norwegian children can practically ski before they can walk! This trip gives you a taste of what makes Norway such a special place.
Your trip takes place up in the north of Norway, within the Arctic Circle. You will be based at a hotel in the small city of Alta, but you won't be spending much time there. Your first night will be spent chasing the northern lights and once you catch them you will be treated to their spectacular display.
Your first full day will be spent on a traditional Norwegian tour - head out into the wilderness either on skis or snowshoes. You are heading to a frozen lake, where you will learn how to ice fish and hopefully catch something! You will then have lunch around the fire in a traditional Sami tent before heading back to base.
Come the next morning you will head out to a nearby farm where you will meet your transportation for the day - dogs! You will help harness your team and then receive the all important instruction on driving them. Then its off into the countryside, racing over pristine snow on your way to lunch around the open fire in another traditional Sami tent.
This trip offers an excellent glimpse of what we think makes Norway such a great place. With knowledgeable guides, interesting and exciting trips, and spectacular landscapes this is personal favorite of one of our team.
