SOUTH LUANGWA WALKING SAFARI
Walking through the South Luangwa National park you begin to understand the smells, the tracks and the vegetation, aspects often missed from a vehicle. In time the interested observer becomes just another mammal in the park!
This is a unique walking experience along the Chikoko walking trails, where you enjoy a few days on foot, staying in comfortable bush camps. There are no roads or vehicles and after exploring the area around one camp you may move on to the next camp. Your luggage will be portaged on ahead. You will be accompanied by an experienced guide who will be able to point out everything of interest from the big game down to the smallest signs left by the most timid animals.
The Luangwa is home to most of the big game - lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo and hippo are abundant. It is notable for two endemic species: Thornicroft's Giraffe and Cookson's Wildebeest and has over 400 species of birds.
Getting out into the wilderness on foot is an unforgettable experience, away from roads and vehicles you can forget the 21st century for a while and dedicate yourself to spotting new and exciting animals, big or small or simply let your mind wander in these wonderful surroundings.
