LAIKIPIA WALKING SAFARI
You can't get much closer to your surroundings than on foot, exploring the Laikipia highlands on a walking safari is, at the same time, an exiting and peaceful experience. By getting away from motorised transport you have more opportunities to notice the detail in your environment and can spend as much time as necessary exploring what you think is interesting.
You set out in the morning ready for a days exploration. Starting in the Northern Plains you will spend 4 days travelling through the area searching out new experiences with your expert guides. From the plains you will move down various river valleys, stopping to admire beautiful waterfalls or go for a quick swim, always on the look out for new sights. Every night you will camp in a new location and will be lulled to sleep by the sounds of the Kenyan bush.
The game here is varied, with rarer and more unusual species amongst their more famous neighbors. On this trip you may have the chance to spot giraffe, zebra, elephant, wild dog, leopard, lion and hyena, alongside many species of birds and the more unusual Grevy's zebra and Beisa oryx to name but a few.
With your knowledgeable guide to show you around this safari offers more than just big game spotting. Being on foot allows you to pick up on things that would otherwise miss. Your guide will be able to point out the signs and tracks left by numerous animals and will be able to show you not just the classic African safari game but also the rarer, more timid and more unusual animals that live in the Laikipia region.
