KALAHARI BUSHMEN SAFARI
This trip offers an insight into the Hunter Gatherer way of life - a way of living that sustained us for much of our past. Organised with the support and co-operation of the community it visits, this trip avoids the exploitation that often comes when travellers interact with groups of people with a very different way of life.
Your camp is situated deep with in the ancestral gathering lands of the Zu/'hoansi people. After a chance to rest after your journey you will head down to the Bushmen village to meet the people who will be your hosts for the next few days.
Come the morning you will be ready to head out with some of the people from the village to begin to learn to see the world through Bushmen eyes. You will be taught to see the local ecosystem in a different way and discover new aspects of the landscape that have been part of Bushman culture for thousands of years. Take part in a little light gathering and keep an eye out for the perfect rhygozum plant to fashion your digging stick - a vital part of a hunter gatherers tool kit - from.
Over the next few days you will take part in a traditional hunt, watch the melon dance, hear stories around the campfire and learn about the history of the Bushmen and the challenges they face today.
This trip is an excellent mix of culture and the outdoors. The Bushmen are still reliant on nature and as a result far more in tune with their environment and the great outdoors in general. Take a look into a very different way of doing things.
