SAMBULENNI HORSE TRAIL
There is nowhere on earth like Namibia, the combination of habitats and landscape is unique and stunning. Just think about the red dunes of the Namib Nakluft desert - iconic and spectacular. One of the best way to explore a small part of this country is on horseback, you have more freedom to get out into the wilderness, are able to get closer to the animals and can access areas not possible by vehicle.
This trip is based at a beautiful lodge in the Namibian countryside on a 14,000 hectare private reserve, with access to a further 21,000 hectares surrounding the reserve. That gives you 35,000 hectares to explore in 8 days. Suffice it to say there is plenty to see and do. You will be riding out from the base every day in search of new experiences with your knowledgeable guide.
Some of the highlights of the trip include tracking game such as sable, oryx, springbok, black and blue wildebeest, giraffe and white rhino, long canters along sandy tracks and riding up into the mountains for spectacular views.
The horses on this trip are mostly (very!) forward going Arabs or Arab crosses some of which have competed in Endurance competitions. In addition you will be exploring wilderness areas in the presence of big game. This is therefore a ride for experienced riders only. As a guide you should ride regularly, have a sure seat and be confident at all paces.
